Struggling the season opener defeat against the USC, the U14 boys team went to face the BBVL squad for their first away game. All players showed a good performance in line to their training efforts, leading to a close match. A good play composure by Yves Michael created valuable offensive options for his team mates Paul Bergk and Anton Schweitzer. The defense was dominated by always alert Martin Goletz and Sahib Singh, who collected numerous rebounds. The physical play by the opponent team, coached by Sebastian Campos made it more and more difficult for the Lakers to keep the pace. Though, a number of good steals by Jasper Rosenbaum in the last minutes led to a closer fight and the Lakers could have even won the match, but in the end the eight boys of the Eagles turned out to be the stronger team, earning the 47:45 victory.
Coach Ekki Jäger stated a good advance of the recent training work and assistant coach Dusty Münzner pointed out a good perspective for the next matches on December 14th, when the additional players from the U12 team are available again. The training will now be focused on scoring improvements and better stamina.
We greatly acknowledge the two Lakers referees Vicky Pohontsch and Christina Kleinau who helped out on short-notice having no problems with the two teams being always fair and sportsmanlike and of course the parents that made their way to Grünau to support us.
